This Snake Does Something No Human Should Have To Witness

Sharp-Nosed Pit Viper

The color bands of this native Chinese snake and its distinctive pointed nose make it loose like it’s ready for performance in a circus. Anyway, let’s skip that and focus on its effectiveness in medicine.  The Sharp-nosed pit viper is a very fast-moving snake, and because these snakes move so swiftly, it’s thought that chemicals from their bodies can easily treat “wind” disorders. As potent as it is for medicine, it is also very poisonous, and deaths from its bite are not uncommon. Some animals earn popular names and reputations from special traits or features, and the sharp-nosed pit viper has gained prominence and a very special name, and we’re not talking about its nose. It is popularly known as the ‘100 pacer,’ and it stems from the belief that a victim can only take 100 steps after being bitten by this snake before falling from paralysis. If left untreated or treated with negligence, the bitten limb or finger will need to be burnt or amputated. Now that’s just crazy and all shades of dangerous.
