The Matrix
The Matrix is the first film in the Matrix trilogy. The story follows intelligent machines trying to trap humanity in a fake reality (the matrix) to their knowledge. A hacker uncovers this truth and wages war against them, forming a team of other people who have made it out of the matrix. This 1999 science fiction and action film is produced by Joel Silver and written and directed by the Wachowskis.
Since its release in the US, it has grossed over $465.3 million worldwide. The movie generally received positive reviews, and it also gained several recognitions and awards, including Academy Awards, Bafta Awards, and Saturn Awards. We believe the success of the film motivated its producers to make the two other sequels.
