The new owners of Maserati in the early 1980s wanted a car that would be more affordable, resulting in the Biturbo. Many believe this car is what caused Maserati to leave the US market in 1991 – though they eventually returned in 2002.

Technically, there was nothing wrong with the Chevette – however, it was made at just the wrong time. When the concept was created, small cars with great fuel economy – like the Chevette – were popular. But by the time the car was made, big trucks were more popular, resulting in abysmal sales.
