Gaboon Viper
The Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica), commonly known as the Gabon viper, is a highly poisonous but normally docile ground-dwelling snake found in the tropical woods of central and western Africa. It is Africa’s heaviest venomous snake, weighing 8 kg (18 pounds) and reaching a length of 2 meters (about 7 feet). The Gaboon viper also has the world’s longest fangs, measuring up to 4 cm (1.6 inches) long.
After the king cobra, it has the second-largest venom yield of any snake. This dangerous boy stands alone as there are currently no recognized subspecies.
