This Snake Does Something No Human Should Have To Witness

Desert Horned Viper

We’re pretty sure you’ve never heard of this snake before. I mean, a snake with a horn? Who would have thought! Or are we in a movie or something? Not at all. This is a real-life reptile called Cerastes cerastes, also known as the Saharan horned viper or the desert horned viper. It is a very poisonous viper native to northern Africa’s deserts and sections of the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant.

Aside from their horns, you can also identify them by their color pattern. The ground color of the pattern is yellowish, pale grey, pinkish, reddish, or pale brown, and it almost always matches the color of the soil or ground where the animal is found. SO this means it also has very good camouflage. Swelling, hemorrhage, necrosis, nausea, vomiting, and haematuria are common side effects of envenomation from the bite of the one-of-a-kind snake. Anyway, it is important to note that not all snakes in this species have horns.
