This Snake Does Something No Human Should Have To Witness

Indian Cobra

We already looked at the King Cobra, which happens to be the biggest of the Cobra species, but now we’re about to look at the Indian cobra in all its glory. It is also known as the Spectacled Cobra or Asian Cobra because they are mostly found in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other Asian countries. The Indian Cobra is easily identified for some impressive physical features like its hood, which opens when threatened, and the mark that shows when at the back when the hood is expanded. Also a part of the big four, this snake contributes to many of the deaths caused by snakebites within its range. But there’s good news since a local spice known as Zedoary is proving to be promising in the effective treatment of cobra bite. New antivenoms are also emerging, but before these developments, the mortality rate of bites from this snake was pretty high. We think it is probably called a Spectacled Cobra because it is popularly known with Snake charmers in India and used for their performance.
