With a sad and somewhat darkly humorous storyline, this movie was kind of hard to watch, but still, you wouldn’t be able to look away, and everyone wanted to see it. It focused on a stand-up comedian and party clown who had a mental illness and was branded as a joke by society. He turns to a life of violence to take out his vengeance on selected victims.
Even though this dark portrayal of mental illness and violence got mixed reviews and some cinemas even refused to show it, Joker smashed records as the first R-rated movie to gross over $1 billion in the box office. The movie only used a budget of $55 million, and this also makes it sit in the hall of fame of being one of the most successful films in history.
