Purr

This is a low continuous vibratory sound, popular with felines. This can’t be taken as mere noise as there are often generally two reasons for this sound by cats.

The first reason which is quite rare is due to the feeling of discomfort or hurt. The second reason is to express joy and satisfaction. It is advisable to visit a qualified vet whenever a weird purr is noticed.

Apart from a purr, cats also commonly make meowing sounds – a crying sound. They make use of different pitches to express different emotions. Failure to carefully differentiate between a playful meow and an irritated one can easily cause you to get scratched.

There are 4 frequent varieties of meows. A pitiful, pleading meow signifies a feline’s hunger and wishes for food. A brief meow is used for greeting. An extended meow to signify its boredom and irritation. Another short meow is a mimic of a dog bouncing.
